Our new branch office in Sophia-Antipolis, FRANCE.

In November 2000, the firm opened its first office outside Paris, in the Technopole of Sophia Antipolis, a center for high-technology business along the Nice-Cannes corridor on the Côte d'Azur. Our offices are located near the Centre International de Communication Avancée (www.cica.fr), a state-of-the-art office building with conference and seminar facilities that houses more than 55 technology and internet businesses.

Why Sophia-Antipolis?

For decades now, the world's leading technology providers have been migrating to this enclave a few miles from the Mediterranean Coast. Texas Instruments, Lucent, Nortel, Alcatel, SAP, Siemens and dozens of other corporations, as well as the world wide web consortium (W3C), the IETF, and major French government research centers, all have major facilities in and around Europe's largest "science park".
But as with Silicon Valley and the Research Triangle, Sophia Antipolis is now expanding well beyond its origins as a haven for engineers and scientists in the fields of computing , telecommunications and internet. The region is now leveraging its position and riding the wave of global entrepreneurialism that is taking hold throughout France and Europe. Many individuals who have been at the cutting edge of new technologies for major corporations are now beginning to create their own businesses. At the same time, the region--with vastly improving airport facilities and flight schedules -- is becoming a credible alternative to large European cities for high-tech or web economy multinationals looking for French or European headquarters. This virtuous cycle in turn is drawing the attention of leading venture capital and other investors.

All of these converging trends and players means that Sophia Antipolis has become a natural base of operations for Kahn & Associés, and a number of our clients based in and around Sophia have long encouraged us to establish a presence in their midst.
